About Greyhound Trust Cornwall
Greyhound Trust Cornwall is dedicated to re-homing retired racing greyhounds. Based in Cornwall, our small group of volunteers is a branch of the national charity Greyhound Trust. Every year, we home around 4,000+ retired greyhounds and help hundreds of other rescue dogs, but there are still many more that need our help. Contact our team today to enquire about adopting a dog or supporting our charity in other ways.
Our History
Established by a group of greyhound lovers in 1975, Greyhound Trust was founded to help secure a better future for Britain’s retired racing dogs. In the early days, our Trust comprised a few hundred homes and a very limited branch network. As we approach our 50th year, we have found homes for more than 85,000 greyhounds (more than 4,000 dogs a year) through our volunteer-led branches.
Homing a Greyhound
In our experience, greyhounds are incredibly adaptable, making them ideal for rescue dog adoptions. With flexible re-homing policies, we’re always happy to talk with anyone interested in homing one of our dogs, even if you work, have children or cats, or are unable to go for long walks.
Choosing a Greyhound
New greyhounds come to us all the time, so please contact us to find out about what furry friends we have. All Cornwall Greyhound Trust dogs are boarded at Russet Greyhound Sanctuary, where we always have new greyhounds arriving, so there should be a suitable greyhound for you.
Forever Homes
We are always looking to find a forever home for our rescue greyhounds. If you feel you could offer a home for any of our dogs, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
The Trust Policy
Our Trust’s main policy is to ensure all of our greyhounds are neutered, vaccinated, and wormed. To achieve this, we do request a donation towards the costs of this veterinary care.
What’s more, all new homes are subject to a check, and once this is completed and approved, we will work with you to help you choose a greyhound that is perfect for you.
